Valley Home Fix

Help for homeowners in Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley

Plumbing problem at home? Start here.

When the basics stop working at home, the whole day feels harder. You cannot take a proper shower, use the toilet comfortably, or wash up without thinking about it. It can feel embarrassing, stressful, and messy — and you just want your home feeling normal again, with a decent person you trust coming through the door.

You do not need to know what is broken or what it is called. Tell us what is happening in your own words, and we will let you know whether we can help you get in contact with an independent local plumber for the work you need.

Call Valley Home Fix

No online form. No account. Just a phone call when you are ready. Contractor availability and callbacks are not guaranteed. Valley Home Fix is not a repair company or an emergency dispatch service.

What is happening in your home right now?

Pick what sounds like your home. You do not need the right technical name.

Blocked drain

Water draining slowly, or not at all, in a sink, shower, or bath.

Toilet will not flush

It will not flush properly, keeps running, or keeps blocking.

Leaking water

Water dripping or pooling under a sink, around a toilet, or from a pipe.

No hot water

The shower runs cold, or hot water runs out far too quickly.

Low water pressure

Taps and showers feel weak, or water comes out unevenly.

Strange smells or noises

An unpleasant drain smell, or gurgling and banging from pipes.

Safe first checks

Only do what feels safe, and stop if you are unsure. Do not open panels, take pipes apart, or try to fix anything connected to gas or electricity yourself.

When to call

Call when the problem is still there after your safe checks, when water is spreading, when you cannot use a toilet, shower, or kitchen sink properly, or when you are worried the problem could damage your home. You do not have to wait until it becomes an emergency to ask for help — but if water is spreading quickly, do not wait for a regular callback. See the emergency box below.

What happens after you call

Call Valley Home Fix and tell us what is happening at home, and which city you are in. We will listen and let you know whether we can help you get in contact with an independent local plumber for the work you need. If a suitable contractor relationship is available for your area and the type of work needed, we can help you make that connection.

The plumber decides whether to accept the work and is responsible for the required credentials, licences, and qualifications. Valley Home Fix does not verify, vet, screen, or guarantee those credentials — ask the plumber about their qualifications before hiring them. The plumber can discuss the problem, explain the proposed work, and tell you the price before work starts. You decide whether to go ahead. If you do, you pay the plumber directly — not Valley Home Fix.

Contractor availability and callbacks are not guaranteed. A call to Valley Home Fix is not a booking, and it does not guarantee that a plumber is available at a particular time.

What affects the cost

No reliable price can be given from a short description alone, and this page does not quote prices. A plumber will usually need to understand the problem first. Things that can affect the cost include:

Ask the plumber to explain the work and the price before work starts, including parts and any call-out or minimum charge, so there are no surprises.

It is your home. You should feel comfortable with who is working in it.

Is this an emergency? Do not wait for a callback.

Water spreading quickly: shut off the water if it is safe to do so, and call an emergency plumber directly. Do not wait for a regular callback.

Smell gas: leave the building and, once safely outside, call FortisBC at 1-800-663-9911 or 911.

Carbon monoxide alarm sounds: get everyone outside and call 911.

Valley Home Fix is not an emergency dispatch service.
